Studio Tour Enkhuizen 2023

This year, I am participating in the Atelierroute Enkhuizen! On Saturday, October 14th, and Sunday, October 15th, 2023, the third edition of the Atelierroute Enkhuizen will take place. It’s an extensive tour of houses, studios, and other unique locations where artists from Enkhuizen and the surrounding area showcase their work. With over 40 artists, spread throughout both the city center and beyond the city walls, opening their doors for you, this is an event you won’t want to miss!

You can find me at Begoniastraat 43, marked as number 3 on the map. For more information, visit: https://kunstenkhuizen.nl/atelierroute-enkhuizen

Moved to Enkhuizen

We have recently moved to the old fishing town of Enkhuizen, and in my beautiful new surroundings, I am now looking for interesting locations to exhibit. If you know of any, I would greatly appreciate it if you let me know!

This means that I no longer have a garden shed as my studio. Fortunately, I have transformed the spacious and bright attic of my new house into my new studio.

It also means that I had to say goodbye as a member of the Kunst in Ursem Foundation, where I was a member for 10 years, maintained the website, participated in exhibitions, and helped organize activities. I received a beautiful artwork from ceramist Cock Witte (I will share a photo of it soon).

Seven Colors Freedom Exhibition

Exhibition Announcement for September 2022

Kunst in Ursem is making a post-corona comeback in the Reformed Church of Ursem. Instead of the usual studio route, this time we have chosen to have a joint exhibition featuring the best works of seven members. It might be a slight disappointment for those who are accustomed to our art route, but our carefully curated exhibition “Zeven Kleuren Vrijheid” (Seven Colors of Freedom) will be well worth the visit. On September 10th and 11th, the charming church will be open from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Art Exhibition in the Town Hall

Six members of “Kunst in Ursem” are exhibiting their work at the town hall of Koggenland. The exhibition features artwork by Cock Witte, Karin van der Gaast, Louise Kitselaar, Maria Meester, Annegé Riphagen, and Wim Geesink. The exhibition will be opened on January 20th at 5:00 PM by alderman Win Bijman.

Art Market Hoorn

On Sunday, September 2nd, from 12:00 to 17:00, you can find me with my paintings at the art market in Hoorn. On Sunday, September 2nd, the 14th edition of the large art market will take place, winding its way through the historic city center of Hoorn.

The Hoorn Arts & Culture Foundation organizes the annual Cultural Weekend as the start of the new cultural season, from August 31st to Sunday, September 2nd.

Starting with the festive opening on Friday, this time at Schouwburg Het Park. Then on Saturday, September 1st, there will be events like the Hoorn Havenconcerts, and on Sunday, September 2nd, a bustling city center with many activities, including the largest art market in the Netherlands with 150 stalls.

Will you also come to meet me and take a look at my artwork?

Studio Tour Ursem 2018

On September 8 and 9, another Studio Tour will be organized in Ursem. A total of 28 participants at 14 locations will showcase their very diverse art. Paintings, ceramics, mosaics, photography, fairground model building, sculpture, textile art, calligraphy, jewelry, mixed media, and bronze sculptures. So, there’s something for everyone!! Brochures about the participants, along with a map of the Art Route, can be found at “De Batter” and all other locations.

The festive opening will take place on Saturday, September 8, and will be conducted by Alderman Bijman, with music by George Beentjes. The opening is from 12:00 to 13:00 at “De Batter,” Middengouw 13. The route begins at 13:00 and ends at 17:00. On Sunday, September 9, the route is open from 11:00 to 17:00. At the Hervormde Kerkje, the route is open from 12:00 to 17:00.

During the route, there are also beautiful prizes to be won through a lottery. Admission is entirely free.

The theme this year is “I HAVE A DREAM.”

We wish you all a fantastic Studio Tour!

Liberation Festival with Photo Show

Unique photo exhibition by Maria Meester and Piet Oudejans during the Liberation Festival in primary school De Batter in Ursem on May 5, 2018.

An exhibition where the two enthusiastic photographers are happy to provide explanations and insights into their perspectives on their surroundings.

Maria Meester is an abstract painter. With her camera, she immerses herself in sheds, flowers, atmospheric landscapes, and manhole covers. Also, take a look at: www.mm-foto.nl

Piet Oudejans, who has been exploring nature and the polder since childhood, primarily focuses on nature photography.

On the Cover of a Book

In 2017, writer Dick Witte asked if he could use the photo of my portrait of Ramses Shaffy, one of my favorite Dutch singers, (he also bought the painting) for his new book. Naturally, I was very much honored and excited. The book is titled “Head Held High, Nose in the Wind.” It describes the early days of Dutch cabaret and the unique role that the song ‘Mens durf te leven’ has played in the world of cabaret over the years.

My painting is printed on the front cover, next to a beautiful artwork by Leo Gestel, which adorned the sheet music cover of the song the book is about: “Mens, durf te leven!” by Dirk Witte. I have read the book, and it is definitely worth reading it if you speak Dutch.
